PILGRIMAGE PLACES OF INTEREST
Tagore Hill

It is situated about 3 Km far from Albert Akka Chowk near Ram Krishna Mission Ashram, Morabadi, Ranchi (JHARKHAND).

Rabindranath Tagore is believed to have written number of books & a part of his famous Gitanjali at the top of this hill.

There is a castle on the hill in a rough condition. Despite this its construction attracts the people.

The whole Ranchi can be seen from the top of the hill. The views are very pleasant to eyes.


 

Ramkrishna Ashram is also situated at the foot of the hill which is a centre of Divyayen & Agrarian vocational institute.
 
Ranchi Lake

It is situated at the heart of the city. It was excavated by Col. Onsely, a British Agent in 1842. The lake has an added attraction of boating for the visitors.
 

Ranchi Hills & Pahari Mandir

It is a popular health & holiday resort & a place of sacred pilgrimage. It is one of the landmarks of Ranchi Town. It is situated at an altitude of 2140 feet from the sea level. The hilltop offers panoramic view of the town. The famous Shiva temple is situated on the top of the hill. There is a water reservoir on top. At the foot of the hill is a big lake, Kanha dam & an attractive place for the tourists.

The trees of various kinds multiply the beauty of the hill particularly in the rainy season. In SHRAWAN month the people offer JAL to God Shiva in the same way as at Baijnath Dham in Deoghar.
 

Angrabadi

It is actually a temple of complex in Khunti which accomodated the deity of Lord Ganapati, Ram Sita, Hanuman & Shankaracharya Swami. Swarupanada Saraswati having been captivated by serene placid & celestial beauty of Angrabadi rechristened it as Amreshwar Dham. It is situated at a distance of about 40 kms from Ranchi.

This temple is situated about 39 km. far from Ranchi on Ranchi-Tata road. There is a village near the temple known as Bhundu. One may go to the temple by daily services private Buses or Jeeps from Khadgarha bus stand. There is a statue of a RATH attached with 18 wheels and 7 horses.
 

It was built by Sanskrit Vihar headed by Sitaram Maroo, the managing director of Ranchi Express.
 

This is a very beautiful place to spend holiday with family. A Dhaba (motel) is also situated near the temple that has good facility of lunch & dinner.
It is surrounded by a pond which is used by devotees during Chhath Puja for worshipping of Sun.
Jagannath Temple

This is a replica of the Jagannath Temple at Puri, the only difference being that it stands atop a hill. It is frequented by the tribals as well as the non tribals & is expecially crowed during the annual Rath Yatra & Car Festival held during July.

It had been built by the king of Barkagarh Jagannathpur, Thakur Ani Nath Shahdeo on 25th December, 1691. After a long period this temple got damaged (itself) on 6th August 1990. Again, the damaged temple was reconstructed from 8th February 1992 and still it is under construction.


 

How to reach:
This temple is situated about 10 km. far from Albert Akka Chowk (Firayalal Chowk) in the HEC area near Sector- 3.

 
Rock Garden

Best place to spend holiday. It is situated about 4 km. far from the Albert Akka Chowk, in front of CMPDI Headquarters in Kanke Road.

It has tried to resemble its design to the Rock Garden of Jaipur. There is a Jhula, made of Iron rod has only two pole. There are several ridiculous statue made of stone.

This has become very popular among teens.

There is a big lake beside the hill that is known as KANKE DAM.

WATERFALLS TO SEE
Jonha Falls

It also known as Gautamdhara is around 40 Kms from Ranchi. It is approachable by both Road and train. The fall can be admired by descending around 500 steps. There is a tourist rest house which contains Lord Buddha temple. The river Kanchi flows nearby.

 

Dassam Falls

This is 34 kms from Ranchi on Ranchi-Tata Road near a village called Taimara. Here, the Kachni river falls from an altitude of 144 feet. It is also known as Dassam Gagh.

 

Hudru Falls

It is about 28 km. aways from Ranchi town. The Swarnarekha river falls from a height of 320 feet making a wonderful scene known as Hundru falls. During rainy season it takes a formidable form but in summer it turns into an exciting picnic spot.

Panch Gagh Falls

This is on Ranchi- Chakradharpur Road about 6 kms from Khunti. This fall consists of five streams which falls from a good height.
