Akshardham

This is the famous temple of "Swaminarayan Sect" which is the richest sect in the world. It is a unique cultural complex built in Gandhinagar in memory of Lord Swaminrayan. Inspired by H. D. Pramukh Swami Maharaj, Akshardham is a miracle worked by the service and devotion of thousands of volunteers. It is an intricately carved, majestic monuments of 6000 tons of pink sand stone awash with spiritual stillness. The entire monument was built without the use of steel. Besides a 7 feet gold leafed idol of Lord Swaminarayan and his holy relics, there are three exhibitions on Indian Culture with light and Sound shows, a multimedia show and an animatronic show. Games, rides and food refreshments are other attractions of Akshardham.
 

This gorgeous temple of Bhagwan Swaminarayan is built from Rajasthani pink marbles. The temple, 108 feet high, 240 feet wide and 131 feet in broad took six years to complete.
There are innumerable models of the Swami and his disciples created with special live effects: audio-visual live scene effects. They narrate the illustrious life of the Swami who lived one hundred and seventy five years ago. In the middle is sealed the Swami with his disciples on the hand and the villages on the another. Great Swamis namely Brahmanand, Muktanand and Premanand are also known to sing bhajans with variety of musical instruments and have been seen also. Some are shown putting forward questions to the Swami and the Swami, too, is shown as if he is satisfactorily, very convincingly replying to his disciples. These things are presented in a very sophisticated style with the help of ultra-modern techniques.
