Ingredients:
2 tbsp. olive oil
2 tbsp. safflower oil
2 med. onions, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 c. split peas
6 c. water
1/2 c. carrots, sliced
1 stalk celery
1 bay leaf
Salt & freshly ground pepper
1 c. cooked rice
Direction:
Heat 2 oils in pot - add onions,
then garlic. When onions wilt (do not brown) add the rest of
the ingredients except rice. Boil gently 2 hours. Put warm
cooked rice on bottom of soup plates then add hot soup. Serves
