After completing high school, Calista enrolled at Rutgers University to study acting. She completed her graduation with a BFA in the year of 1988, 

Calista Flockhart worked throughout the city in various productions. She slowly worked her way up, but the role that helped her not working in a revival of Tennessee Williams' "The Glass Menagerie". The role earned her approval with critics and eventually an award with the Theater World and Clarence Darwent Awards.

Calista was famous in the big screen roles in "Quiz Show," "The Birdcage," and "Drunks". 

Flockhart has remained faithful to her first love, the stage, and in recent years has returned to New York to perform in several high-profile productions, including a 1999 run in an off-Broadway production of Neil LaBute's bash.
