Philosophy of New Year:
No one knows when the time had started and when it would come to an end.
It does not have any break in between. But we realize time changes. In
fact no two moments are the same. In that sense each moment is new to
us.
On the basis of the cycle, we, the mankind, divide the time into several
parts. We found this the cycle within a very short time and again within
a very long time period. We see night comes after 12 hours regularly.
Summer comes after nine - ten months regularly. This cycle affects our
life. Thus, we divide the time sometimes into Day, sometimes into
months, sometimes into Year and sometimes into an era.
Our lives are busy with our schedule and routine life. We are so
absorbed with our work that we are not in a position to see ourselves.
We wanted to do something and we did. We are not always judgmental about
our work. Some times we forget the purpose of lives and suddenly one day
"I discover I was walking on the way not meant for me". In fact New Year
is a milestone in our life, which knocks us to look back and to reassess
our lives. At the time of reassessing we could find that we could not
win over our habits to explore ourselves. We could find that we have
fallen to the basic instinct, which might not be in line with life in
true sense. We could find that we gradually positioned ourselves in a
place far away from our conscience.
New Year is a day to take oath, to prepare resolution. Oath for
self-control. Oath for doing betterment. Oath to help out self -
exploration.
Each day is new. Someone can take oath and prepare resolutions for each
day. But ultimately taking oath and preparing resolutions would be a
routine work and thus would lack vigor, vitality and would lack force
from within. If someone takes oath after each era (after each 12 years)
he would get few chances to make resolutions and would get very few
chances to rectify himself. An era may not be considered as important
from the viewpoint of preparing resolution. On the other hand, a Year is
neither too short time or too long time for a life as a mile stone and
hence taking oath after each year after self-assessment would be more
meaningful. And people would be more determined and tight jawed to
oblige to the oath and would be more fruitful. As a result of this, a
New Year gets much more attention and importance.
Philosophy of New Year also consists of the social aspect of the new
year.
Special Aspect of New Year:
New Year has significance from social viewpoint also. Now we will
discuss the social aspect of New Year. We are too focused on our job. We
have hardly any time to socialize with our friends, relatives and
neighbors in our routine life. Socialization is necessary to exchange
our social views and values and to upgrade us. New Year gives us a
formal opportunity to socialize with other people and to wish. I think
today's world is too much mechanical. Human touch is very much essential
now. To wish heartily and to be wished really brings a lot of joy,
brings a feeling of togetherness and let us feel like a social entity
and human being. |
